Costa Rica, 

One of the smallest countries of Latin America, is known anywhere in the world by its exuberant vegetation and its political stability. Without army for more than half century, "Costaricences" have been enjoying a high standard of life and a harmonic society.

Their national parks, reserves, refuges, sanctuaries and protected zones show the firm commitment of the country in the ecological conservation, being their main roll the ecosystem of the world.

Consider a visit to the historic port of Limon. Just offshore is Unita Island where Christopher Columbus arrived in the fall of 1502. He harbored his ships on the island on what would turn out to be his last voyage to the New World he had discovered. Spanish name for rich coast, Columbus thought there was gold to be found there. Costa Rica is located in the Central American isthmus, divided into 7 provinces:  Alajuela (Airport), Heredia (craters and zone in transit), San José (capital), Guanacaste (beaches of the Pacific), Puntarenas (beaches and islands), Cartago (mountain) and Lemon (culture and beaches of the Caribbean).  It limits to the east with the Caribbean Sea, to the west and south with the Pacific Ocean, to the southeast with Panama and to the north with Nicaragua. The Pacific littoral with an extension of more than 1200 kilometers of coast, presents variety of landscapes, islands, gulfs, inlets and peninsulas extended from Bahia Salinas to Punta Burica where an infinite number of beaches are found for tourist enjoyment. The Central Valley is the union of the most important populations of Costa Rica, where the cities of San Jose, Alajuela and Heredia are located. The Cordillera de Talamanca is a mountain range where it contains the highest peaks of Costa Rica “Cerro Chirripó” at 3819 mts. The range is covered by the Talamancan forests. The rivers of Costa Rica are of great interest to tourists, not only for their beauty, but also for the opportunities they provide for adventure. Costa Rica’s climate is tropical, a diversity in the climate exists being product of the action of winds and the small territory.

Description

San José, Capital City, presents a mixture among the architecture that dies and another that reborns with forms of the past.  Places of interest to visit:  Central Market, National Museum, Museum of Gold, Museum of Jade and the National Theatre.  As the tourism is the most important revenue, Costa Rica has built a strong tourist network of resorts, lodges, hotels, villas, golf courses, casinos and accommodations in the beautiful surrounding nature.

Excursions by the nature, whitewater rafting in crystalline water, kayak, surfing, dive scuba, sports fishing, and excursions are some of the many adventures while even not discovered regions are explored.

The tourist region of Guanacaste is situated in the exuberant North Pacific part of the country. Hot and precious beaches, with sands of various textures and penetrating colors converts the province of Guanacaste in the greatest tourist the attraction of Costa Rica.  This is a Region of music and of native’s dishes, where the international airport allows the tourist to enter to this land of charm. 

The golf lovers and divers in deep sea, find in this region a very special place to enjoy and taste tempting lobsters.  The sport fishing is one of the popular activities of Costa Rica.  There are many species of fish as the “el Dorado” and the “Tarpon”

The Volcano Sand is the most spectacular one of the many volcanoes found in this country.  The Volcano Poas has a great crater of more or except a mile of diameter and has also one of the geysers (water heater) larger.  The Forest Cloudy Monteverde is one of the most popular of the country.  It is here where the rare and exclusive bird Quetzal can be observed, of private importance.  850 species of birds in Costa Rica are found approximately, of which 600 are residents and the remainder are migratory during the winter the ones that generally displace themselves toward South America.  The bird life in different and beautiful regions of the country can be observed.  Costa Rica has reached world fame by the enormous variety of orchids that are found in their forests and forests.  Many of these species are exhibited in a Botanical Garden located in the neighborhood of the city of Carthage. 

Tortuguero, located in the Caribbean coasts, is one of the rainy forests but biodiversos of Costa Rica.  This majestic National Park is the home of 60 different species of mammals, but of 300 birds, 57 amphibians, 200 classes of plants and more than 400 species of trees.  At night during the season of anidación of the green tortoise (from July to October), Tortuguero offers one of the most captivating spectacles of the nature.  The unusual congregation of tortoises in these Costa Rican beaches has called the attention of famous scientists as thus has also served of inspiration for the filming of documentary film carried out by the Geographical Company of the United States, by The World Wildlife Fund and the scientific company of Jacques Costeau. 

Puntarenas is the paradise of the surfers.  Its breakings are strong and consistent and invite surfers of the entire world to enjoy one of the better surfings of the planet.  Nag, Beautiful Beach, Badly Country, Holy Theresa and Sunday they are all you considered destinies of surfing. 

Tasting the Costa Rican kitchen is one of the pleasures that the visitor is granted upon arriving at the country.  In San José, all the national foods are offered and at the same time a series of restaurants exists that offer great diversity of Latin-American, American, Chinese, German, Italian, French, Spanish, and international food.  Such diversity satisfies all the inclinations of the tourists upon visiting the country.  Costa Rica besides produces one of the finest coffees of the world.
